The nanophotonics strand of INSPIRE has organised a series of student talks, which kicked-off on Wed, 21st April 2010. These talks are delivered using the consortium's video conferencing facilities, and allow nanophotonics students to present their work to their peers throughout the consortium.
The aim of the talks is to encourage interaction between the INSPIRE nanophotonics students, and ensure researchers and students are familiar and up-to-date with the work of other partners within INSPIRE. They also provide an opportunity for the students to gain valuable presentation experience, a crucial skill for researchers. The series of talks is made viable by INSPIRE's excellent video conferencing facilities, which allow the 1 hour sessions to take place without the need for costly and time-consuming travel between locations, while still allowing discussion and feedback. The talks are scheduled to occur once a month, usually with two talks per session, each from different partners. The currently confirmed schedule is below, with further speakers to be confirmed.
